I returned to California to study Literature at UC Santa Cruz where I was active in the queer culture in the early 1990s. I went on to become a Naturopathic Doctor with special interests in botanical and physical medicine and practiced medicine for about a decade when I realized my own internal need to make art.
My work is heavily influenced by having grown up in Puerto Rico. The homes and styles of the tropics as well as the vibrant mega fauna and flora inspire me. I believe we all need more humor in every area of life, especially art. I am particularly drawn to bright colors and bold patterns, which are often reflected in my pieces. I'm always

I believe we all need more humor in every area of life, especially art. I am particularly drawn to bright colors and bold patterns, which are often reflected in my pieces. I'm always curious about the incredible beauty in the natural world, even in light of the climate crisis.
I am a firm believer in the power of experimentation and play in the artistic process. I often incorporate unconventional materials and techniques into my work, often messing up the surface with spills or footsteps, which allows me to explore visual possibilities and bring my imagination to life. I find new ideas and try to push the boundaries of my craft.

I enjoy the fluidity and spontaneity of fluid pigments, they give me a loseness and flow in my work. I work from both live models, photographs and projections, I like to create a made up world with somewhat believable images.
Mixed media includes collage, painting with inks, acrylic, oils, paper tearing, weaving, metal and wood sculpture, and performance.
I just built my first welded sculpture titled "bucket," it is currently holding the paper birds that I liberated from a book I'm repurposing into art.

When I was 7 I learned to center clay on a wheel, and I dabbled in ceramics for many years but shifted my focus and I have been painting for about 6 years and fully arting for the last decade. I'm currently studying Visual Studies MFA program at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA), expected graduation in 2025.
My work is influenced by the vibrant colors and textures of nature and my experience as a transman, as a queer person, a nature lover, a parent. I strive to create pieces that are both visually stunning and emotionally impactful.
I will often use a surface that has been marked in some random or very loose way, as the base and build images on top or within the markings. Sometimes I will draw or paint using a live model, other times I use projection as a tool to capture images on and within the surface.
My most current work is using discarded found books as a source

My most current work is using discarded found books as a source material. Working in an abstracted method, I've deconstructed, woven, collaged, and manipulated books.
